Search for Travel Guides
To find a travel guide, you first need to fill at least one of the fields CONTINENT, COUNTRY and DESTINATION.
Keep in mind that the fewer fields you fill, the wider your search becomes.
For example, if you fill only the continent field, this means that your interest is extended to all the
available travel guides for places from all the countries within the selected continent.
So, once you are ready to begin your search, press the Search button.
Travelplorer now displays a new page, depending on your request:
- Travel guides for the selected destination (in case you have typed destination).
Note:
In the next section, there is a description of how these guides are presented.
Note:
TravelPlorer gives you the opportunity to save the results of your search by choosing Save Search.
Thus, all the travel guides that are presented to you will be available in the future without having to search them again.
However, you first need to make your own account by choosing Register
and then just log in.
- Travel guides for places within the selected country (in case you have selected continent and country and have not typed destination).
Just click on the place/destination you are interested in and you will be transferred to the page concerning only the guides for this place,
as it is described above. Moreover, this page presents travel guides for subdivisions within the selected country. Just click on the subdivision
and you will be transferred to a new page concerning only the guides for the subdivision you are interested in. For your help, this page also
displays a map with the subdivisions of the selected country, a world map where the location of this country is marked and an external link
to the relative political map as this is given by the University of Texas at Austin.

Travel guides for places from countries within the selected continent (in case you have selected only continent).
Just click on the country you are interested in and you will be transferred to the page concerning all the guides from the selected country,
as this is described above. Moreover, in this page you can see the political map of the selected continent.
View Travel Guides
Each travel guide is divided into thirteen main categories which are shown on the left side of the page. Some of these are
further divided into subcategories. Here you don’t see travel guides by author (traveller).
Travelplorer prefers to display all the information corresponding to one category/subcategory by the time.
In this way you can see concentrated data for each category/subcategory written by different travellers and then compare
and choose which suits you best.
At the begging, Travelplorer displays the content of the first subcategory of the first category which is the Climate.
By choosing any other category/subcategory you want, Travelplorer displays the respective content.
While viewing a category/subcategory for a place, Travelplorer gives you the following facilities:
View Travel Guide
It displays the whole travel guide of this author. Choose the author that suits you better and view his/her guide. While viewing the guide you can:

Add to favorites.
You need first to make your own account by choosing Register and then just log in. Do this and you will have your own collection of travel guides.

Add a review.
Rate the travel guide and add your comment.

Print to PDF.
It prints the entire travel guide to PDF form.
Add to favorites.

Do this and you will have your own collection of categories/subcategories from different travel guides.
Rate.
It gives you the opportunity to rate the content of a category/subcategory and write your comment about it.
View Ratings.
View all the available ratings and comments regarding a category/subcategory.
Add your Travel Guide

To add your own travel guide,
choose ADD GUIDE from the main bar.
Choose continent and country from the displayed list and write your destination.
Note: Subdivision
field is not mandatory to be filled. However, Travelplorer encourages you to fill it so as to make the
Search for places within
a country easier for the users.If you don’t know or remember a subdivision, don’t worry.
Choose Help (next to the subdivision field)
and Travelplorer gives you maps for the majority of countries where their subdivisions are displayed.
Note:
Please type the destination in English. TravelPlorer will not save your travel guide otherwise.
In case you don ‘t remember how the destination is spelled , you may consult the Map
for the corresponding country which exists next to the country field.
Keep in mind that each map is an external link to the site of University of Texas at Austin.
Note:
Travelplorer doesn't demand any account in order to add your guide.
In this case you will sign your entries as guest and your age will be displayed only if you have filled the
BORN AT field.
Otherwise (if you have an account), your name and age will be displayed.
Note:
Once you fill the destination field, you have the chance to add alternate names,
for example if you are about to write a travel guide for Athens , you may add as an alternate name Athina.
By doing this you make it easier for a user who doesn't know or remember the exact name of a place, to find it.

When you are ready to continue, choose SAVE AND CONTINUE.
Now a bar with the available main categories is displayed.
Choose the category you want and you will see the respective subcategories. Select the category/subcategory you desire
and type your text in the shown field below them. Once you finish don't forget to
SAVE your entry.
Repeat the previous step for any other category/subcategory you want. At the end choose
Finish Travel Guide.Your travel guide is now part of Travelplorer.
Note:
Always remember that each entry must be in accordance with the Dos and Don’ts rules.

You may consult a model guide for
Berlin.
Register
Choose Register from the main bar and fill the displayed fields.
Note:
Fields with the identification (*) are mandatory.
Note:
Don't forget to read the Privacy Policy before registering.
My Profile
Choose My Profile from the main bar after registering or logging in if you already have an account. Now you can choose:
1. My Guides
and all the guides you have ever added to Travelplorer are listed.
Choose:
- View to see the entire selected guide.
- PDF PRINT to print it to PDF form.
- Edit to make any change you want. Do this and you will be transferred to
the page ADD GUIDE where you had initially added the selected guide.
Here you change the content of the fields
CONTINENT, COUNTRY, BORN AT, AREA, DESTINATION, Add alternate and/or
any of the available categories/subcategories. Choose Update
and Save respectively at
the end for the change to become acceptable. Now your travel guide is renewed.
- See ratings to view
the ratings that your guides have achieved from Travelplorer's users.
2. My favorites
and your favorite destinations regarding the whole travel guide or part of it (categories/subcategories) are listed. Choose:
- View to see the content of the selected destination.
- Remove to remove it from your list.
- Your note for this to add your comments.
3. My Searches
and a record of your searches is listed. Choose:
- View to see the results of the selected search.
- Remove to remove a search you don't need any more.
- Your note for this to add your comments.
4. My Account
to change any of your account details.
5. Change your password
to change the password of your account.
